Weekend

Welcome Home

30. November 2018

La Planque is not a hotel, it’s a friend’s house. The place has been designed as a parenthesis, a retreat, a break…

Chic and popular, individualism and altruism, comfortable and authentic

DESJEUX DELAYE agency has completely redesigned this building nestled behind Parmentier Avenue. It can now host 36 couples in search of a charming and secret Paris. Because here, we pass the door sure to be able to recharge our batteries around a coffee or for the night. Old trinkets saturate the storage spaces and lead us to believe that we are in the house of a guest attached to pretty things and memories. The library gives on a magnificent patio where the pink walls match night blue zellige floors. A profusion of plants jostled in pots, all different, invite us to nest in this island of unexpected greenery. From the lobby, the tone is set. A place where chic and cosy meet in a very familiar way. An oversized oeil-de-boeuf is theatrically staged behind the former confectioner’s counter, transformed into a reception desk. Two imposing quilted mirrors dominate the patinated walls. Each is framed by very long oval wall lights signed by the interior design duo. With their elaborate and timeless lines, they enhance the atmosphere of a house that has lived several lives. The La Planque hideout is located at the back, under a glass roof where a large ancient library with beautiful inside volumes reminding us of old country style furniture. Flea market treasures saturate the storage spaces and lead us to believe that we are in the house of a guest attached to pretty things and memories. The library opens on a magnificent patio where the pink walls match night blue zellige floors. A profusion of plants jostled in pots, all different, invite us to nest in this island of unexpected greenery. As we enter the rooms, our feet are welcomed by the softness of a carpet with large graphic shapes, none of which look alike. The headboards are a set of ovals compiled horizontally and crossed by the hotel’s iconic lamp seen on the ground floor. It is called «The Hypocrite» because Daphné Desjeux and Dorothée Delaye, had fun naming these beautiful lights with naughty flaws.
