… a seasonal, lush beer garden and gathering place in Brooklyn, NY.

Even Hot in Winter!

The multi-faceted indoor and outdoor space is used for music and cultural programming that draws in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and international crowds alike, for vinyl listening parties, film screenings curated by a former curator of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), educational classes on culture and the arts, the ever-popular planetarium series and delicious food and drink. The owners and resident DJ’s, Justin Carter & Eamon Harkin (opening image) have toured on six continents and are the longtime collaborators behind Mister Saturday Night – a party series approaching ten years in existence, and the spinoff sister party called Mister Sunday, a beloved all-walks of life dance party and essential NYC bucket list item.

Indoors at Nowadays, a 5,000 square-foot converted living-room bar, opened for the first time in conjunction with Outdoors at Nowadays, allowing guests to curate their own unique experience between both spaces.
For music enthusiasts, there is a weekly popular concert series:  Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday Night, an all-ages, all-walks of life dance party, as well as free, year-round listening sessions on a custom sound system paying tribute to the Japanese listening bars of Tokyo. Cultural programming includes educational classes on culture & the arts from Think Olio, film screenings in partnership with the former director of MoMA’s film center, Laurence Kardish, and pop-up dinners where people of all interests can gather. Beyond the musical + cultural happenings, Nowadays hosts weekly ping-pong tournaments and an array of board games. Dogs, families and large groups are welcome.
Open seven days a week, guests can dine on food curated by partner and director of hospitality, Henry Rich of Rucola and Metta in Brooklyn, including Caribbean-style fare from the outdoor food truck with dishes like jerk chicken thighs, chickpea & potato curry and spicy salted fish as well as a barbecue stand every Saturday and Sunday offering dry-rubbed pork ribs and smoked oak & sugar maple beef brisket with all the fixin’s. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4pm-8pm, with two-for-one cocktails, wines and select draft beers.
