The refined dimora „a.d.1768“ directly overlooks the scenic perspective of Piazza del Duomo in the historical city center, one of the architectural icons of the Val di Noto
Ragusa Ibla is a synthesis of the history of Sicily: an open door to the Mediterranean, a crossroads of peoples and cultures. This elegant province righteously guards treasures left in inheritance by centuries of history, art and poetry that, inevitably, have shaped its appearance. More „reserved“ than the nearby Noto, Ragusa Ibla is a jewel of rare beauty, in one of the areas most loved by high quality tourism.
The “ad1768” dimora – housed in an elegant patrician palace dating to the 1700s – expresses a modern concept of refined hotellerie, which redefines the idea of contemporary Sicilian hospitality, in which the history and contemporary taste of interiors coexist in an engaging balance.
In the heart of the building, the muffled atmosphere of the ancient patrician house is revived with renewed and modern spirit offering sophisticated travellers an absolutely unique experience.
With 10 rooms including 3 suites, „ad1768“ offers a formula of modern and exclusive hospitality that allows guests to build their own „tailor-made“ stay in the heart of baroque Sicily. Discover this gem of a city with its winding and scenographic views, extraordinary territory and its natural, artistic riches not to mention the infinite food and wine heritage that the southeast corner of the island offers. Above all else, discover the luxury of time slowed down, which flows with ease.
The building that now houses „ad1768“ was reborn, like most of the Iblean city, after the earthquake that upset the historic center in 1693, giving rise to an extraordinary architectural reconstruction – in pure Baroque style – of one of the most fascinating urban nuclei of the world.
The elegant façade of the dimora faces Piazza del Duomo, while its inner courtyard boasts a spectacular „pincer“ staircase in pitchstone with neoclassical railings. A large arched portal beholds the family crest that gave life to the Palace, and the ancient stables – traces and testimonies of a fascinating and rich past – welcome and envelop the guest projecting them into a unique dimension.
The interiors of the building are today the result of a meticulous renovation that brought to light a noble past made up of frescoes, friezes, elegant architectural details, floors restored by highly skilled artisans, all of which today live again in full symbiosis with contemporary touches between furnishings and common spaces, in an elegant and vibrant balance.
ROOMS and SUITES
The Rooms and Suites – each one different from the other – are derived from the noble rooms of the noble floor and the second floor of the Palace and each of them express unique personality and decorum, thus creating a play of spaces never equal to one another providing fine contrasts between the ancient and the contemporary.
Frescoes juxtapose modern furniture and designer lamps; „vintage“ colors blend with the pieces of art in the Rooms and Suites; all coming together to recreate – in „ad1768“ – the modern memory of a new hospitality experience.
The ancient and imposing vaults of the stables and the carriage house – La Carretteria – now host the common spaces of the dimora. Spaces of conviviality, in the most typical Sicilian spirit. Spaces that become a place for breakfast for our guests in the morning and are transformed throughout the day to offer a moment of relaxation or conversation.
